{"id":2226,"date":"2024-08-29T02:05:54","date_gmt":"2024-08-29T02:05:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flnavigator.com\/healthfairs\/?p=2226"},"modified":"2025-09-12T01:54:45","modified_gmt":"2025-09-12T01:54:45","slug":"the-caregiving-role","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flnavigator.com\/healthfairs\/2024\/08\/caregiving\/the-caregiving-role\/","title":{"rendered":"The Caregiving Role"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<strong>THE CAREGIVING ROLE: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>A MEANINGFUL QUALITY OF LIFE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>By Robert Goodman<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>What is it like to be a Caregiver?\u00a0 Your clients and their loved ones probably never expected to be caring for a person who is sick or has a disability.\u00a0 As\u00a0 professional caregivers we need to ensure meaningful quality of life for our clients, the care recipient, and ourselves.\u00a0 Just as the care recipient has special needs, so does the professional.\u00a0 Job security with appropriate pay and benefits contribute to a positive professional self image.\u00a0 People who are appropriately compensated and trained are better workers.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Respect by clients is another aspect of this issue.\u00a0 Too often people who need our services\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 do not realize that we are trying to help them do\u00a0\u00a0 what is necessary to help them to maintain or achieve independence.\u00a0 It is our responsibility to help our clients understand our roles and empower them to be good consumers of our services.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Human service professionals must also serve as advocates for our clients.\u00a0 We must work together (with our clients) to get public and private agencies to be more responsive to the needs and concerns of people who need our services.
